I’m a sports fan who started collecting baseball and basketball cards as a child. I’ve continued to scratch the itch to collect cards for most of my life. Whether we realize it or not, the act of collecting sports cards introduces us to phenomena that occur in the fields of mathematics, economics, and psychology. As an engineer with a background in probability and statistics, as well as experience in marketing for large corporations, I have found myself applying mathematical methods and conventional business logic to help understand the dynamics of our hobby. I decided to create this blog in order to share my findings with the collecting community at large. Consider it a resource for learning more about the products you buy, beyond the usual pack odds and release dates. Hopefully you find the content interesting and useful. So, welcome to the Sports Card Analytics blog. I hope that you’ll decide to contribute to the conversation as well.
